As I find myself paying a bit more attention to everything going on around me, I wanted to take some time to share things that have inspired me recently.
This morning, on the bus into work this "song" for lack of a better word came up. Macklemore has been an inspiration for me for some time now, but ironically enough not the songs that you hear on the radio (take church with Ryan Lewis and Geologic for example)
In lieu of everything that is going in the world recently, I wanted to take the time to share this.
Charleena Lyles was recently shot and killed in the city that I currently call home, Seattle. While this is incredibly tragic, I've been thinking about what I can do to help? Macklemore states in this piece that a good place to start to have an honest discussion about what is going on. He goes on to say that we are more concerned with being called a racist, than racism. And that needs to change. He asks what our intention is? Well, mine is to try and speak up, share, be open and embracing and loving.
It's all so very heartbreaking at the moment. I know this is supposed to be what inspires me, but really this morning, this message did. How can we be the change we want to see in the world? What steps can we take together to try and make a difference? I don't have the answers by any means, just wanted to share/spark a dialogue.
